Hello

Welcome to Fresno Future

Founded in 2011 by California State University Professor A. Sameh El Kharbawy, Fresno Future works on ideas that contribute to a better future for Fresno and the Central Valley. We aim to inform and promote public discussion on the fundamental questions that pertain to who we are; who we should be; how we should live; how we can innovate, and how we can, or should, contribute to the challenges facing our communities, neighborhoods and cities.

Our Work

We're in this together...

We work with organizations across the private, public and social sectors. Our people make us different; we’re passionate about a better future for Fresno and California’s Central Valley. We’re devoted to making a difference in all we do. We think and act like partners, not advisors. We share the aspirations of peoples and communities; we work to understand their reality, and align our incentives with their hopes and objectives— so they know we're in this together.

Urban & Strategic Planning

From urban policy to master plans, specific plans and downtown development plans, Fresno Future’s interventions seek to advance the architecture of cities, neighborhoods and communities in the Central Valley.

Society & Civic Policy

From education to health, labor, immigration, equal rights and welfare policy, Fresno Future works on ideas that promote the well being of individuals and families. Recognizing that our democracy is animated with a well-informed and engaged public, we also work to promote the arts and cultural activity in the Central Valley.

Economy & Business

Our research covers a range of areas that contribute to economic growth in the Central Valley including: economic policy reform and regulation; economic growth programs; entrepreneurship; business development policies and environments.

Governance

Our work on governance focuses on issues related to efficiency in service delivery, citizen participation, and the strengthening of civic society. Our interventions seek to help organizations set clear objectives and plans, link budgets to performance, and establish meaningful monitoring systems and metrics.

Environment & Energy

At Fresno Future, we study a range of current environmental challenges, including natural resource management, greenhouse gas reduction, and sustainability. Our energy research addresses innovation and optimization across the spectrum of energy R&D, commercialization, generation, storage, distribution, management and disposal.

Technology

Recognizing the vital role of technology in our future, our mission is twofold: first, to formulate and promote public policies that encourage technological innovation and productivity; second, to explore ways to integrate future technologies in organizations and businesses in the Central Valley.

Since its inception in 2011, Fresno Future has endeavored to become a gathering of minds- the changemakers, newsmakers and tastemakers whose expertise lies behind the ideas, events and trends that are shaping the future of our city and region.
